carn ithen cottage self catering on scilly home facilities gallery tariff and availability events 2018 guest comments contact us home looking to relax and unwind? then come to the peaceful haven called carn ithen...... carn ithen, trench lane, old town, st mary's, isles of scilly tr21 0pa tel: 01720 422917 email: [email protected] carn ithen cottage is a luxury self-catering property which sleeps up to four people. it is available for friday-to-friday rental and also for shorter breaks outside the april to october season. perfectly located in old town, 80m from one of the best beaches on st mary's and 100m from lower moors natural trail, it is the perfect base for your holiday in scilly. a spacious self-contained ground floor apartment comprising a large living/dining room, an extremely well equipped kitchen (for enthusiastic cooks!), separate utility/boot room and two bedrooms, one superking (can be twin) and one double, both of which have en suite shower rooms. carn ithen cottage is special because we provide all the things you need at no extra cost and we provide a substantial 'welcome food pack' – everything is there on your arrival! children welcome over 12 years of age. sorry no dogs. old town bay sunset over samson guillemots and razorbills click here to review on trip advisor click here to like carn ithen on facebook click here for current availability or call 01720 422917 or email: [email protected] how to get to scilly ...... there are two ways of getting to scilly: by plane and by sea. the main departure point is penzance (by sea) and land's end, newquay and exeter (by plane). getting to penzance by road: take the m5 to exeter and then continue with the a30 (avoiding plymouth) or the a38 (via plymouth) and then on to penzance. by train: many services go to penzance railway station, which is the most convenient for all forms of transport on to scilly. there is a shuttle bus that takes you on to lands end. getting to the isles of scilly by plane and (as from may 2018) helicopter: operated by isles of scilly travel – see their website www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk land’s end airport is about 8 miles from penzance. continue on the a30 out of penzance, follow signs for land’s end, turn right at crows an wra. the airfield lies 1 mile beyond. car parking is available. flight time: 15 minutes for newquay airport, from the east, follow the a30 through bodmin towards newquay until you are signposted to indian queens and the airport. turn off the a30 at highgate hill on to the a39 until you reach st columb major roundabout. then follow the signs to the airport onto the a3059 before turning right towards st mawgan. flight time: 30 minutes by sea: operated by isles of scilly travel – see their website www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk in penzance follow the signs for scillonian iii which departs from lighthouse pier. we suggest you arrange secure parking – see website. sailing time: 2.5 hours on arrival at st mary’s airport at the airport, shuttle buses meet all flights and will take you to carn ithen. on arrival at st mary’s quay your bags will be delivered direct to carn ithen for a small fee (£1.50 per bag), provided you have clearly labelled them with our address and they are placed in the luggage container when you board at penzance. you can then walk to carn ithen from the quay unencumbered. walking will take about 15-20 minutes. head towards the town, past the co-op on your left, keep walking and when you get to a narrow gap with bourdeaux shop on the your left and the galley on your right bear off to the right and keep walking up this road (church road). you will see the church in front of you, keeping the church on your left follow this road up and over the hill and eventually past old town bay (on your right). at the end of the bay, there is a cafe on your left, turn left directly before it. this is trench lane and we are located on the right about 80 metres down. this site is maintained by danni & nigel
